What is virtual makeup try-on?

Virtual makeup try-on lets a shopper apply digital cosmetics to their own face and see the result before buying. Banuba TINT does it as a hosted web widget: you add one script tag, Banuba digitizes your products, and shoppers try on foundation, lipstick, blush, eyes, and brows on your store, on mobile, or on an in-store AR mirror.

How makeup virtual try-on works

  1. You send your product list. Banuba digitizes the cosmetics for free.
  2. You add one script tag to your store or install the Shopify app.
  3. Shoppers open the try-on on your site, on mobile, or on an in-store mirror, with a photo fallback if they decline the camera.
  4. They see the shade on their own face and buy from it.

Made for beauty brands and retailers

TINT is a hosted widget, so most stores never open this section. If your team wants the widget API, the Shopify snippet, or the CSV format, it is documented.

FAQ
  • Banuba TINT starts at $49/month for 1,000 virtual try-ons, $99/month for 3,500 (the plan most stores pick), and $349/month for 15,000. Price is driven by monthly try-on volume, not by how many products you list. Every plan includes a 14-day free trial, unlimited products, and all seven try-on categories. Larger deployments are quoted individually. Full breakdown: TINT Virtual Try-On pricing guide.
  • No. For Shopify, you install the Banuba TINT app from the app store. For any other store, someone pastes one script tag into your theme. Banuba digitizes your products, and most brands are live in under 2 weeks, with no SDK build and no computer vision work on your side.
  • Thirteen makeup types: foundation, concealer, powder, contour, highlighter, blush, lipstick, lip liner, gloss, eyeliner, eyeshadow, mascara, and eyebrows, plus lashes. Up to nine can be worn at once as a complete look. TINT also covers skincare, eyewear, contact lenses, hair dye, headwear, and jewelry on the same plan.
  • In the browser, with no app to install. The widget runs on the last two Safari and iOS versions and the last five versions of Chrome, Edge, Opera, and Samsung Internet, over an HTTPS connection, which the browser requires before it will grant camera access. If a shopper declines the camera, TINT falls back to an uploaded photo.
  • TINT tracks the face on 3,308 vertices rather than a small set of landmarks, so color and placement hold as the shopper moves, and its AI face and seasonal color analysis reads each shopper's color type and sorts your catalog so the shades that suit them appear first.
  • You can, and Banuba does the hard part. Banuba digitizes your cosmetics for free, and 22,000+ products are already digitized. After that, you manage the catalog yourself in the Tint admin dashboard, adding products individually or bulk-uploading the whole line from a CSV template. Integration documentation.
  • Yes. Banuba has a dedicated skincare try-on that matches skin data to products and visualizes the result, and it is included in the same TINT plan as makeup.
